Uplifting a Russell Group university’s online teaching and learning offering in response to COVID-19

Phoenix Australia deliver world-leading mental health and trauma training, programs of research and knowledge translation. Demand for Phoenix’s training increased significantly after Australia’s devastating bush fires over the 2020-21 summer season, before increasing again as Covid-19 hit. With all training delivered face to face, Phoenix sought to rapidly move online to meet demand at this critical time across the country.

Curio worked closely with the AUT Learning Transformation LAB (altLab) to design a robust, user-friendly Canvas template to roll out during the LMS migration to improve the user experience. 
Together, we developed a detailed brief of requirements for the template and identified common elements that would be used across faculties and departments. The aim of the template was to provide a consistent look and feel across all courses with sufficient flexibility to cater for the wide range of courses offered by AUT. 

One of Australia’s largest accounting organisations with a membership of more than 160,000 members in over 100 countries approached us to help them develop their offering to provide a compelling experience for the next generation of learners.

Curio partnered with a Group of 8 university, who were moving their hugely successful foundations course in Cyber Security to the online environment. In 2020, we started our partnership to provide online tutors for one of their clients, a leading Russell Group collegiate university. Through this partnership, we deliver online short courses designed for professionals working in government and public bodies, which enable them to upskill through flexible, remote learning.

Curio Academy brought together expertise across course design, development and delivery to build a tailored training package.

Curio was engaged by the SAC Council to undertake a feasibility study into the proposal and advise SAC on whether to progress the proposal. The project was to assess the strategic, commercial and financial feasibility of the proposal. 

In 2021, Curio successfully designed and delivered a collaboratively career-focused course comprising three micro-credentials to each of the six institutions. “Designing your Future” commenced as a collaboration with Stanford University and Curio successfully designed and developed an online opportunity available to thousands of students.

The Trust was asked by Health Education England to solve the problem of trying to support the management teams of the national mental health workforce. They approached Curio to help build an online toolkit to help managers and workforce planners develop their teams.
